2016 Latest Photo Booth Trends
It's almost a year since our 2015 edition of the "Latest Photo Booth Trends" blog. Back then it was the Slow Mo Booth and the Instagram Printer that were trending taking over from the Video Booths and Vehicle Photo Booths. A number of other trends have surfaced since then and are really starting to make waves:
1. Vintage Camera Stand Booths
As if a traditional style photo booth wasn't enough old school someone had the brilliant idea to create a photo booth in the style of a 1900's wooden cased camera and tripod! It very quickly has become the most in vogue style of photo booth to have at any discerning event. Whilst they look old school all the latest tech has been packed into their little wooden casing and the open style certainly allows for lots of people to get in on the action. As with all open style booths however there is the downside of no privacy which isn't going to worry the true exhibitionists but may not be as fun for those that like to pull a silly face away from prying onlookers.
2. Mirror Photo Booth
Mirror Photo Booths almost look too good to be a photo booth! Whilst not as popular as the Vintage Camera Stand booths the concept is really starting to gain some traction with more and more photo booth hire operators starting to offer them. As the name suggests a mirror photo booth is long mirror which has a camera and other components hidden behind the glass. Interactive touch screen technology lights up direct on the face of the mirror whilst the mirror itself acts as the viewing display so users can see what they're doing. Ingenious! Time will tell however whether or not this is another flash in the pan fad or a truly here to stay feature on the photo booth hire landscape. The elegance of the mirror "photo booth" makes them particularly suited to weddings and formal affairs however like the Vintage Camera Stands the open style nature may not always be the best option for your guests or your surrounds but they look so cool!
3. Software Novelty Trends: Flip Books/GIF Booths/Green Screen
The final three photo booth trends are more software solutions than stand alone booths but we wanted to bring your attention to them anyway as they are all quite novel and worth considering if only for the novelty factor!
First the Flip Book Booth is a software and printing solution which creates a moving image in the form of a flip book for the guests to take away instead of a static photo strip. A short video is created, then each frame is printed, cut and finally a binding machine brings it all together in a book for guests to take away and relive the moment. Pretty cool!
GIF Booths take a series of spaced apart shots like a normal booth but then recombine them into a video file known as a GIF. The GIF file then brings the moment to jilted life albeit without sound. Once again something different for the user to take away other than the usual printed photostrip.
The final software trend has been around for a while now but as yet we haven't mentioned it in our Latest Photo Booth Trends series of blogs so here is its chance to shine. The Green Screen Photo Booth software allows images and settings (eg The Eiffel Tower, Alien Planet) or anything graphic you can imagine, to be super imposed Hollywood style behind the people in the booth. Photos are taken as usual and the users walk away with some fun pics of themselves interacting with said settings and situations. The concept has been around long before the latest digital photo booths hit the hire market in 2005 but this is a new application and whilst probably the least trendy of all the photo booth trends of late this is one that has real merit and will be around for a long time as the applications especially in the corporate and kids markets are endless.
